In this world of deep division, a man in East Wenatchee is building connection through the written word.

David Belcher created the 'Friendship Brigade' in Salem, Oregon, in 2018. It took on a different name - the 'Friendship Bridge' - when he moved to north central Washington from the east coast approximately two years ago.

It sends art, cards, and letters to senior citizens at assisted living or skilled nursing centers.

It's now grown statewide.

And Belcher told ARC Seattle co-anchor Steve McCarron that he'd like to take the project a step further.

If you'd like to reach out to David Belcher about the 'Friendship Bridge', you can reach him via email at: ddhbelcher@gmail.com
