WATERBURY, Conn. (WKRC) - A startling discovery was made after police received reports of an unaccompanied 3-year-old girl walking a neighborhood alone.
Upon investigating the reports of the child walking alone, police found a 34-year-old mother dead, according to WTNH. The woman has not been publicly identified. She was found in a home in Waterbury, Connecticut.
It was around 11 a.m. when police first received information that a child was walking alone. After the child was located by police, officers said she showed no signs of abuse or neglect.
Authorities worked to locate the child's mother, and when they found her, she was unresponsive. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and pronounced her deceased, saying she "showed signs of being deceased for a period of time," according to NBC Connecticut.
The investigation remains ongoing, but there were no "obvious signs of foul play," according to the CT Post.
