Nicole Ellen Taylor, 55, was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree arson and use or presentation of a firearm during the commission of a felony

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. (WKRC) - A Harpers Ferry woman is accused of fatally shooting her husband and setting fire to their home nearly a year after both he and her daughter were found dead inside.

Nicole Ellen Taylor, 55, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree arson and use or presentation of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to West Virginia State Police via WCHS.

Troopers and emergency crews responded to a heavily burning home on Sept. 30, 2025. Taylor escaped with significant burn injuries and was flown to a regional burn center.

Her husband, Robert Hayne Taylor III, 56, and daughter, Cynthia Allison Taylor, 21, were found dead inside the home.

An investigation by the state fire marshal determined the fire was intentionally set, police said. Examinations also found both victims had died before the fire. Robert Taylor had been shot multiple times, according to state police.

Investigators said they connected Nicole Taylor to her husband’s shooting death and the fire. Authorities have not released Cynthia Taylor’s cause of death.

Taylor was arraigned and is being held without bond at the Eastern Regional Jail.
