Court records obtained by Fox News Digital show McKinsey was involved in an ongoing legal dispute with his wife, Candice Jang.
A New York Times Games engineering executive was fatally shot Saturday in a California parking lot, and police arrested his in-laws on suspicion of murder.
Dublin Police Services said a sergeant was driving near the Dublin Sports Grounds around 3:08 p.m. when he saw a man lying in the parking lot. At about the same time, dispatchers began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting.
Jonathan McKinsey, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A New York Times spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that McKinsey was director of engineering for games and had worked for the company since January 2023.

“Their cooperation was critical to the swift arrest of the suspects,” police said.
Zhang and Chen, who police identified as McKinsey’s in-laws, were arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Santa Rita Jail. The married couple is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at 9 a.m. PT.

He faced a 2025 child-abuse case alleging cruelty to a child by endangering health and corporal injury to a child, and the two separately sought domestic-violence restraining orders against each other.
McKinsey filed for divorce in December 2025; a status hearing had been scheduled for Oct. 10.
Police have not publicly identified a motive.
