A woman was killed in a crash in Federal Way overnight that shut down several lanes of northbound Interstate 5, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

Troopers said the victim was a 33-year-old Seattle woman who exited a car around 12:17 a.m. while it was still moving just south of South 272nd Street.

She was then hit by a pickup truck driven by a 40-year-old Tacoma man. He was not hurt.

The WSP said it is not yet clear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

The four right lanes were blocked for about 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Traffic was able to get by in the HOV lane during the investigation.
