The largest wildfire burning in Washington remains the Kaiser Canyon Fire in Okanogan County.

It has burned more than 136,000 acres since it was sparked by lightning on July 16 just south of Nespelem.

Crews said fire activity on Wednesday was minimal, allowing firefighters to make some progress.

It's now 52% contained.

The Little Giant Fire near Lake Chelan has grown to more than 77,000 acres.

It was started by a lightning strike on July 15.

The fire is threatening more than 1,800 structures. More than 1,500 firefighters remain on the line.

The Little Giant Fire is only 1% contained.

Meanwhile, fire commanders said the number of homes or structures destroyed by the Spokane Complex Fire has risen to more than 900.

The three fires -- Old Trails, Fairview, and Autumn Lane fires -- have collectively burned a little more than 10,000 acres or about 16 square miles since Saturday.

There was minimal growth on Thursday, but fire crews are bracing for the return of dangerous weather this weekend with high temperatures and dry winds.

The fires forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate, and officials say it will be weeks before they can safely let people back into some areas.

"People automatically assume that just because they can't see a fire, that there is no danger to them, and while the immediate danger to their life might not be obvious when they are inhaling these kinds of toxic fumes and substances that are airborne. It might not be fatal immediately, but it can cause serious health risks and death years later down the road," said Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels.

Federal disaster assistance is underway for damage caused by the wildfires.
