Late-night Link light rail riders traveling through downtown Seattle will need to switch to shuttle buses for three nights this week as Sound Transit carries out its monthly maintenance program.

Buses will replace portions of the 1 and 2 Lines late at night Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 15-17. Sound Transit said riders should allow extra travel time.

On the 1 Line, shuttle buses will replace trains between Capitol Hill and SODO after the final trains pass through the affected area.

The last northbound 1 Line train will leave Federal Way at 9:45 p.m., reaching SODO at 10:30 p.m. and Capitol Hill at 10:44 p.m. The last southbound train will leave Lynnwood at 10:10 p.m., reaching Capitol Hill at 10:38 p.m. and SODO at 10:51 p.m.

After that, shuttle buses will serve all stops between Capitol Hill and SODO every 10 to 15 minutes.

The 2 Line will also switch to buses between Capitol Hill and Judkins Park during the late-night work.

The last westbound 2 Line train will leave Downtown Redmond at 9:04 p.m., reaching Judkins Park at 9:40 p.m. and Capitol Hill at 9:53 p.m. The last eastbound train will leave Lynnwood at 10:16 p.m., reaching Capitol Hill at 10:44 p.m. and Judkins Park at 10:57 p.m.

Shuttle buses will then serve all stops between Capitol Hill and Judkins Park every 10 to 15 minutes.

Sound Transit said the extended maintenance window will allow crews to perform critical maintenance and work to improve the system’s resiliency.

Buses will replace 1 Line trains from Capitol Hill to SODO and 2 Line trains from Capitol Hill to Judkins Park during late night hours Sept. 15, 16 and 17, for extended monthly maintenance. Passengers should plan for additional travel time as crews perform critical maintenance while enhancing system resiliency.
