Seattle Public Schools will unveil a new approach to technology use in kindergarten through second grade.

Superintendent Ben Shuldiner, along with key district officials and representatives from Seattle Families for Intentional Technology, will outline new guidelines that focus on developmentally appropriate learning and rethinking how time is spent in early grades.

Updates are designed to cut back on screen time and reduce an overreliance on technology for younger students.

The district will set clearer expectations around students' use of devices.

Officials say the goal is to prioritize reading, writing, discussion, movement, play, collaboration, and hands-on learning.

The press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday.
