Seattle workers will see another pay bump at the start of 2027, as the city’s minimum wage is set to rise again under Seattle’s Minimum Wage Ordinance.
Seattle’s Office of Labor Standards announced Monday that the city’s minimum wage will increase to $22.14 an hour in 2027, beginning Jan. 1. That is 84 cents more than the 2026 minimum wage of $21.30 an hour.
Seattle’s minimum wage is among the highest in Washington state, currently only bested by Burien, at $21.63 an hour, and Tukwila, at $21.65 an hour.
Unless either of those jurisdictions raises its minimum wage for 2027, Seattle is poised to overtake the top spot.
The Office of Labor Standards calculates Seattle’s new minimum wage each fall based on the percentage increase of the Consumer Price Index for the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue area.
The Consumer Price Index tracks the average change in prices that urban consumers pay for goods and services.
The cost of food rose 5.3% between this August and last August. Gasoline prices are up 17.7% from a year ago, with overall prices up 4.4% compared to last year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
