In a one-on-one interview Tuesday, Rep. Emily Randall discusses Canadian tariffs and their impact on Washington’s economy, including Port Angeles, as well as efforts to make life more affordable for Americans.
"I am fighting for a more affordable America," Randall added that even home building has gotten much more expensive.

A new report from Zillow mirrors what Randall said: new home construction is "running out of steam."
The analysis published Monday found residential building permits fell 1.7% from last year and are now running a record 19.4% below the pre-pandemic trend line.
Detached single-family home completions declined for the third consecutive year in 2025, reaching their lowest level since 2020.
She also addresses elections in Washington state and the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision blocking the Trump administration’s proposed changes to mail-in voting ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The justices refused to let the administration impose changes that would have required states to submit voter lists, use special barcodes, and risk ballots going undelivered.
The decision followed an earlier Supreme Court ruling this summer that allowed states to count ballots postmarked by Election Day even if they arrived later.
