Renton police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect after a woman was assaulted with sexual motivation Saturday morning on the Longacres walking trail.

The assault occurred along the walking trail in the 1300 block of SW 27th St. at 9:24 a.m., according to the Renton Police Department.

The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers conducted a K-9 track but did not locate a suspect, police said. Detectives remained at the scene Saturday, canvassing the area and working to locate the suspect.

Police said the suspect was seen earlier in the day in the 2700 block of Naches Avenue SW at the bus shelters between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

The suspect was last seen heading into the wooded area east of the 1900 block of Raymond Avenue SW around 9:30 a.m.

Investigators said an unidentified Black male wearing glasses and a bright purple hoodie with ears attached to the hood assaulted the woman, and that a passerby intervened and stopped the assault. The suspect was believed to be riding a bicycle and fled on foot following the assault.

Renton police are requesting dash camera footage or other information from anyone who was in either area during those time frames and may have seen the suspect. Police also encouraged people to remain aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information is asked to contact Detective O’Rourke at 425-430-7647. Anonymous tips can be made via CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477, referencing Renton Police Department case 26-7048.
