A King County man is being held on $300,000 bail after investigators say he recruited a victim through Instagram and pressured her into prostitution on Aurora Avenue, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (KCPAO).
Rodriguez Damon Green was arrested in Kent on Sept. 8 as part of a human trafficking investigation.
Green was charged on Thursday with second-degree human trafficking, first-degree promoting prostitution, and second-degree assault.
According to charging documents, Green initially recruited the woman over Instagram and continued to recruit her while he was incarcerated, using jail calls to contact her.
KCPAO said he created a plan for her to come to SeaTac when he was released from jail.
Documents state that Green was released from jail on Aug. 28 and immediately bought the woman a bus ticket from Portland to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, using the guise that the two would get an apartment together.
After she arrived, prosecutors said Green controlled her communications and movements.
"Once the victim arrived in Seattle, the Defendant gave the victim a phone that she was required to use during commercial sex dates, use for online sex ads, and so he could keep tabs on her while she solicited sex buyers," prosecutors wrote in the charging documents.
Prosecutors said Green drove the victim to Aurora Avenue, where she engaged in commercial sex. Green kept all of the money the woman earned.
According to the documents, Green demanded she make more money every night, despite her expressing a desire to stop.
If she didn't make enough money, prosecutors said Green would get angry and threaten or abuse her. Prosecutors said he used his history of domestic violence to intimidate and scare the woman to maintain control.
The woman told law enforcement that she informed Green she did not want to continue prostitution on Sept. 7. She said he assaulted her, put a gun to her head, and told her to get in his car.
KCPAO said he kicked her out of his car in a SeaTac Denny's parking lot. The woman then called 911 to report the assault.
Deputies found the woman “hysterically crying” and said she had been hit. The victim told law enforcement she believed Green had her wallet, bank cards, clothes, heels, and AirPods.
Documents state that the abuse and trafficking happened while Green was on Department of Corrections (DOC) supervision, and he was arrested during a check-in at the Kent office.
Green has a history of violent crime, including assault and domestic violence.
