A 42-year-old man accused of killing his mother and stabbing a Renton police officer in the eye pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday morning.

A 42-year-old man accused of killing his mother and stabbing a Renton police officer in the eye pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday morning.

Christopher Mott pleaded not guilty to murder, assault and burglary charges.

Court documents say officers initially responded to reports of damage Cedar River Terrace Apartments shortly before midnight on Monday.

While investigating the shattered entrance, officers encountered a man later identified as Mott, who ran when they attempted to contact him.

During the pursuit, prosecutors allege Mott slashed Officer Kauppila across the face with a knife before he was subdued with a Taser and arrested.

Court records say Mott told officers after his arrest, "I just f******g killed my mom," followed by, "And it felt great." At the time, officers were unaware anyone had been killed.

After reviewing surveillance footage and learning Mott was the son of Cedar River Terrace resident Colleen McCue, officers went to her apartment and found her dead inside with multiple stab wounds, according to the probable cause statement.

Mott was taken into custody Aug. 3 near the Cedar River Apartments on Burnett Avenue.

Prosecutors claim Mott forced his way into his 80-year-old mother’s building by smashing a glass door with a parking sign.

He then stabbed his mother, Colleen McCue, multiple times and ran when he saw police, according to charging documents.

Mott is accused of stabbing 24-year-old Officer Justin Kauppila in the eye during a foot chase.

Mott was taken into custody soon after.

Court records say Mott told officers after his arrest, "I just f*****g killed my mom," followed by, "And it felt great." At the time, officers were unaware anyone had been killed.
