The full moon will be nearly eclipsed by the Earth’s shadow Thursday night.

NASA said Earth’s shadow appeared to take a bite out of the moon.

The eclipse began before the moon rose in western Washington, becoming visible near the horizon after moonrise.

The moon rose at 7:51 p.m. in Seattle. The eclipse peaked around 9:15 p.m., with 96% of the moon covered by Earth’s shadow. The partially eclipsed moon appeared bathed in rust, copper, and brown colors.

The eclipse ended around midnight Pacific time.

The eclipse was visible with the naked eye.
