An Alaska Airlines flight bound for Seattle arrived safely at Sea-Tac on Sunday evening after a disturbance prompted a brief lockdown.
An Alaska Airlines flight bound for Seattle was halted Sunday evening after a disturbance prompted a brief lockdown while the plane was still at the gate at Miami International Airport.
A flight attendant reported suspicious activity involving two passengers, leading the crew to initiate a lockdown protocol.
In audio from air traffic control at Miami International Airport Sunday night, the pilot told controllers, “Yeah, we have set the parking brake, and we have a customer disturbance on board right now with threats coming from customers. We want to go into a lockdown protocol, we're shutting down our engine."
“OK, do you need us to contact law enforcement?” asked air traffic control.
“Absolutely,” the pilot said.
All passengers got off the plane while the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate.
Authorities found no credible threat, and the two people who were flagged were rebooked on another flight.
In a statement, Alaska Airlines said the passengers have been temporarily banned from flying with the airline.
