A 37-year-old man has died after an early morning crash in north Seattle.

Seattle police said the victim was riding an electric scooter near 24th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 85th Street at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday morning when he was struck by a 16-year-old driver in a minivan heading westbound.

A bus driver who found the injured man in the middle of the intersection called 911.

Medics arrived and performed CPR on the victim, but he died at the scene.

Police said the 16-year-old driver who hit the man returned to the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The driver was evaluated by a drug recognition expert, but no signs of impairment were found.

Traffic collision detectives are investigating the circumstances that led up to the crash.
