Seattle is looking to build on the buzz from a summer that included six successful Men’s World Cup matches.

Seattle is looking to build on the buzz from a summer that included six successful Men’s World Cup matches, and the Seattle Sports Commission says its focus now is keeping that momentum going through the fall and beyond.

Beth Knox, president and CEO of the Seattle Sports Commission, said the organization is already in talks tied to the next Olympics.

“We are in conversations right now with LA28 to bid on the Olympic Torch Relay, so that's an exciting opportunity to be part of the Olympics, potentially, if we are awarded this event without actually hosting the Olympics,” Knox said.

The commission is also hosting Urban X Games on Sept. 13. The event is described as a scavenger hunt that starts at the Lumen Field North Stairs. Teams of two to four will explore 80-plus checkpoints throughout downtown Seattle, competing for a $1,000 cash prize.

Organizers said Buoy from the Seattle Kraken and Yorka from the Seattle Orcas will be at the start for photos and to help send teams off. The event is scheduled to wrap with a finish-line celebration at The Hall on Occidental at 11:30 a.m.

Another upcoming commission event is the Women in Leadership Breakfast on Oct. 16. Organizers said that at the 2025 Women in Leadership Breakfast, the mayor declared October Women in Sports Month, and the commission has since received an official proclamation that will be displayed at the event. The breakfast will also recognize the 2026 WISE Seattle Women of Inspiration Award finalists, with this year’s winner announced during the event.

Guests will be able to explore the Kaiser Permanente Marketplace, featuring 10 women-owned businesses from across the community. Organizers said seats and tables are selling fast.

Knox said the commission is also looking ahead to bringing more major soccer events to the region.

“We're also of course working on bringing the 2031 FIFA Women's World Cup that is a high priority for us and we're excited to begin that process as well,” she said.
