The Seahawks were missing three safeties going into the game.
They lost star quarterback Sam Darnold less than three minutes into the season opener.
They were down 10-0 in the second half.
Yet, none of this seemed to bother them.
Because, yes, there are things to clean up, and the Hawks now have ten days to do so before their next game at Arizona.
But, when the champs found their backs against the wall, they responded in only a way you would expect a winner to do.
They fought back in earnest.
The defense intercepted Drake Maye three times in the fourth quarter; the offense found a way without Darnold.
There are so many stars that, before this game, weren't thought to be in position to save the day for the Seahawks.
Rodney Thomas had a perfectly timed tip on a pass inside the Seahawks ' five-yard line that allowed Nehemiah Pritchett to intercept it.
Rookie Jadarian Price turned in some impressive runs to put the Seahawks in a solid position.
Can we single out the entire Seahawks defense? From the sacks you did see to the pressures that were a little more hard for the average eye to see, the Seahawks defense kept this game within reach while the offense found its footing.
And of course, you have to credit Drew Lock, who for the second time in as many opportunities in Seattle, won the game when he was asked to in relief (The last time was that 2023 Monday Night game with the Eagles).
The point is simple: there are too many players to count that stepped up. That's the sign of a champion. And for a team that has not been talked about by the national folks this offseason (which is fine by the Seahawks). it proved you can't sleep on the champs.
Because Seattle didn't do this to just anyone, they did it to the defending AFC Champs.
Backups, injuries, you name it, when the game was on the line, every Seahawk player found a way to contribute.
And that, that's what you can hang your hopes on.
There's no telling what the 2026 Seahawks can do, or how far they can go.
But there's absolutely no doubt that they will fight with everything they've got.
And, as we've seen over the last couple years, that's almost always going to be enough to beat just about anyone in the NFL.
