The Seahawks rolled past the Arizona Cardinals 31-7 Sunday to open divisional play with a statement.

The Dark Side Defense was relentless, forcing a key turnover and holding Arizona to 151 total yards. For perspective, the Seahawks had 162 yards in the running game alone.

So as the 2-0 Hawks move forward to the Washington Commanders this coming weekend, what did Mike Macdonald say about the team moving forward?

Injury updates

Several players are closer to coming back to action in a new week. Others find themselves in the injury conversation after Sunday's action. Macdonald broke down the updates, including the return to practice for Sam Darnold:

Sam Darnold at practice Wednesday:

“The plan is for him to be out there in some capacity. We’ll go from there. How much, we’ll see from here to Wednesday what that number is. Right now that’s the goal.”

Jadarian Price, who suffered a chest injury Sunday:

“No details, that’s pretty much what it is with JD (Jadarian Price). It’s something we’ll monitor throughout the week; shouldn’t be a long-term thing. With Emanuel (Wilson), It’s the things that we saw him do throughout training camp before he had that minor setback. Glad to see him do his thing. A decisive runner, he gets downhill, not just on the inside run game, it’s on the perimeter game as well. Had a great run on third down where he kept the drive going on the last drive, which is awesome. Lot of great stuff, so we’re happy to have him.”

Zach Charbonnet, who could see his practice window to return open soon:

"We want to try and maximize the time he can practice to give us the opportunity for him to be ready to go back. Not saying that it’ll take the most amount of time. We’re not going to max out all the practices, but that’s something we want to be able to consider and how much practice time it’s going to take and stuff like that. That’s something we’re still working through.”

Drew Lock was awesome

As we talk about Sam Darnold getting closer to a return to action, we would be remiss if we didn't talk about how brilliant Drew Lock was.

Mike Macdonald made sure to recognize his quarterback.

“I didn’t sense much difference in the attitude or the emotion of the team last week. Which is a tremendous compliment to Drew (Lock). The things he’s been able to do, day-in and day-out, the types of practices and type of football he’s played out on the practice field throughout training camp, throughout his opportunities in the preseason. I sense a lot of confidence in what he brings to the table. Drew can play great football, but he also does it in his personality and his style, which is what we want from our quarterbacks, which is exciting. The players saw the best version of him out on the field. I’m happy for him. Proud of all the effort and proud of our team. This week is a bit different with Sam’s (Darnold) situation being more up in the air going throughout the week, so this is a different approach in terms of our process about how we’ll handle our preparation throughout the week.”

Lock was 19-26 passing for 235 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in the win over Arizona.

On team history

By beating Arizona, the Seahawks now enjoy the longest win streak in franchise history --12 straight wins dating back to last November.

Did coach address it with the team on Monday?

“No, we don’t talk about it.”

But he can certainly appreciate its meaning.

“It’s a great stat because we haven’t lost, which is nice. One of the reasons we’re able to do it is because we don’t think about it. We’re focused on what we want to do right now, and we have a great group in terms of how we focus our attention from week-to-week and day-to-day and we try not to make things extra. We’re determined to see where this team goes and how far we can take it, and that’s the extent of our focus. Let’s go try to get another win this week, that’s our focus at this point. At some point, we’re not going to win a game, and the streak will stop, and we’ll try to start another one.”

The Hawks take to the field at 10 a.m. Sunday morning when they take on the Washington Commanders on the road. The Commanders are likely without starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, who suffered a dislocated elbow in the Commanders' loss over the weekend.
