PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WKRC) — During a stressful day at work, a Virginia woman said she wanted to try her luck and bought a lottery ticket on her lunch break. She walked away from her lunch break that day having won $2 million.
The anonymous winner said she felt "stressed" before stopping at the Love Foodmart in Norfolk, where she purchased a Platinum 7s scratch-off ticket. After winning the top prize, the woman said she had to return to work and play it cool.
"I had to go back to work and act like nothing happened," the winner told Virginia Lottery officials.
The winner opted to take her prize as a one-time cash option, getting $952,000 before taxes.
Lottery officials say there are still two unclaimed top prizes in the Platinum 7s game. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 408,000.
