The joint time capsule included letters from King Charles III, President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and others.

Leaders from the United States and United Kingdom buried a time capsule under the Washington Monument on Tuesday, one that won't open for another 250 years.

The capsule in D.C. comes after a matching time capsule was placed beneath the statue of George Washington in London’s Trafalgar Square last year, officials from the National Park Service and British Embassy in Washington said.

The joint time capsule included letters from King Charles III, President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and others.

It also held letters from students, soil from Sulgrave Manor, George Washington's ancestral home in England, and on Royal Mint coin dedicated by King Charles.

Inscribed on the capsule was the seal of the Commonwealth of Virginia, with the words "Do not open until July 4, 2276."

Former Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and former first lady Suzanne, were among those who helped put the event together.
