A trash truck driver has been charged after a deadly crash involving a 13-year-old riding an e-bike in Fairfax, Virginia, earlier this month, police said.
Lawrence Onley, 46, of Fort Washington, Maryland, faces charges of careless driving and infliction of injury or death on vulnerable road users in connection with the Sept. 9 crash, according to the City of Fairfax Police Department.
Officers responded to the 3900 block of Pickett Road after the crash and found the teen suffering life-threatening injuries. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Officers later located a truck matching the description of the vehicle involved nearby and identified the driver. The crash was initially investigated as a possible hit-and-run, but authorities said they found information indicating the driver was "unaware" that the truck had struck the teen, according to police.

(7News)Onley voluntarily turned himself in and was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was issued a $1,500 secured bond. He has a pending court date in City of Fairfax General District Court.
