An impactful storm has arrived, and at least two more days of high wind and heavy rain are expected.
The Storm Team 10 Weather Alert continues as our nor’easter slowly weakens. The main concern for the remainder of the storm is heavy rain, with a Flood Watch in effect through Monday night for the potential of poor-drainage, street, small-stream and river flooding.
Rain continues off and on until Tuesday morning. It will be a soggy next couple of days, and that will keep the risk for flooding with us into the workweek.
Rain Totals:
Most locations have already received 2 to 4 inches of rain, with an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain possible tonight through Monday. With the ground now saturated, any additional heavy rain would increase the risk for flooding.
A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Working in our favor to mitigate the flood risk is the fact that the rain will be spread out over several days, which is better than getting five inches of rain all at once.
- Storm Team 10 Radar: Track the storm as it pushes across southern New England here.
Coastal Flooding:
Due to astronomically high tides and the storm piling up water along the coastline, more coastal flooding is possible, although the worst of the coastal flooding is likely behind us now.

Marine Impacts:
Maritime impacts are expected to continue until the low pulls northeast by Monday night. As a result, maritime travel is expected to be treacherous through Monday and may even impact Tuesday travel as well.
Storm Timing:
Expect on-and-off bands of rain to continue through Monday evening. Lighter rain returns are expected to develop as the storm loses steam Sunday evening and into Monday, although the persistent rain will not let up until the low moves northeast of the region Monday night into Tuesday morning.
