Parents and teachers gathered at Smith Springs Community Center to voice their concerns about Metro Nashville Public Schools.

One parent said a year after the Antioch High School shooting, his daughter was expelled after alerting officials to a note threatening another shooting.

"There was a threat, a note, and it looks better to the school to consider it handled than it does to consider it, 'We don't know who wrote that note' because there is a safety concern," the parent said. "I've said it and I'll say it. I'll keep saying it. And I don't care if my daughter's 50. If I'm still alive, I'll keep fighting this if I have to. Whoever wrote that note is still out there, whether they wrote it as a joke, which is probably highly likely, a poor joke, but whoever wrote it is still out there."

Metro Schools has said the student's expulsion was legitimate, following a failed appeal by the family.
