The agency said its records check found Garcia-Lopez did not have a commercial driver’s license or any driver’s license.

An illegal immigrant truck driver arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Massachusetts had been cited earlier this month while driving an 18-wheeler for a Virginia company.

ICE said officers arrested Maximo Garcia-Lopez, a Guatemalan national, on Sept. 18 following his alleged involvement in a semi crash in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

According to ICE, Garcia-Lopez allegedly made an illegal turn and crashed with another car. A child was in the car at the time and was rushed to the hospital for treatment, ICE said.

The agency said its records check found Garcia-Lopez did not have a commercial driver’s license or any driver’s license.

ICE said Garcia-Lopez was cited Sept. 4 in Connecticut for allegedly operating a 60-foot, 18-wheel tractor-trailer without a license.

At the time, ICE said he was driving for YMY Transport LLC, which federal transportation records list as operating out of Colonial Heights, Virginia.

Inspectors also found 31 additional violations involving the Freightliner tractor-trailer Garcia-Lopez was operating.
