The visit concludes Xi’s three-day trip to the United States, where he and President Donald Trump discussed trade and artificial intelligence safety.

Chinese President Xi Jinping wrapped up his high-profile Washington, D.C. visit Friday with tea and a stop at the National Archives, home to the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The final day concluded Xi’s three-day trip to the United States, where he and President Donald Trump discussed trade and artificial intelligence safety but announced no major breakthroughs.

Trump said Friday morning in a Truth Social post that he had a “very productive meeting with President Xi for both the U.S.A. and China.”

“Tremendous things will be happening,” Trump wrote, adding that Xi appeared to support renaming artificial intelligence “SUPER INTELLIGENCE.”

Xi began Friday at the White House, where Trump and first lady Melania Trump hosted him and his wife, Peng Liyuan, for tea. The visit came during China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, when families traditionally gather to share mooncakes and tea.

In brief remarks to reporters, Xi thanked Trump and the first lady for their hospitality and said the leaders had added “new substance” to their vision for a constructive and strategically stable U.S.-China relationship based on “respect, fairness, and reciprocity.”

Xi also invited Trump and the first lady to visit China for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen in November. He noted the two leaders could meet again a month later at the G20 summit at Trump National Doral Miami in Florida.

“We will, and we’ll be speaking a lot,” Trump responded.

Trump said Thursday he wanted to show Xi some of the country’s “greatest treasures” as the U.S. marks its 250th anniversary, including the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights.

During their visit to the National Archives on Friday, Trump quipped that the leaders had discussed China’s 6,000-year history compared with the United States’ 250 years.

Trump said he also planned to show Xi artifacts highlighting the relationship between the two countries.

“Just as our ancestors reached across the ocean centuries ago to trade, to learn, and to build a better world, our two countries do really the same thing, and we’re very proud of it,” Trump said.

Trump hosted a black-tie state dinner for Xi on Thursday night, attended by technology leaders including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Earlier that day, Xi received a private White House tour that included a B-2 bomber flyover and a performance by the U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon. Melania Trump and Peng toured the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art.

The two leaders also met privately for 90 minutes Thursday, discussing the Middle East, Ukraine and the Korean Peninsula, according to the Chinese government’s official readout. The White House has not released details of the talks.

President Trump, in a Truth Social post on Friday, called the meeting between the two "one of Friendship, Strength and Success."

"We will be meeting again in November, in China, and then at the G20 in December, in Miami, Florida. Much has been, and will be, accomplished. I look forward to our next meeting!" Trump wrote.
