Following an investigation, Skagit County sheriff's detectives referred charges against the woman to the Skagit County Prosecutor's Office on Friday.

Skagit County sheriff's detectives have referred charges against a 50-year-old woman accused of throwing a large rock that struck a man in the face during an altercation in July.

The man later died from his injuries.

Deputies responded to the 13000 block of State Route 530 in the Rockport area at about 8:46 p.m. on July 22 for a report of an assault, according to the Skagit County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators learned that an altercation involving multiple people had occurred on the property.

During the altercation, a 60-year-old Rockport man was struck in the face by a large rock allegedly thrown by a 50-year-old Rockport woman, according to the sheriff's office.

The man suffered significant injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

He died from his injuries July 31.

Following an investigation, Skagit County sheriff's detectives referred charges against the woman to the Skagit County Prosecutor's Office on Friday.

The sheriff's office did not specify what charges were referred to prosecutors.
