Tumwater paraprofessionals approve contract, cancel planned strike

Tumwater School District paraeducators will not go on strike Wednesday after union members approved a new bargaining agreement Tuesday night.

Members of the Tumwater Association of Paraprofessionals voted to approve the agreement with the district, the union said in a statement.

The union had previously planned to strike Wednesday morning.

TAP thanked parents, students and the broader community for their support and said its members look forward to seeing students in school.

The Tumwater Association of Paraprofessionals represents more than 100 paraeducators in the Tumwater School District.

The union is affiliated with the Washington Education Association and the National Education Association.
