A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a vehicle jumped a curb and crashed into the front of a liquor store in Sedro-Woolley, causing significant damage but no injuries.
The Sedro-Woolley Police Department said officers were dispatched at about 9:34 a.m. to a car accident in the area of Crossroad Square after a passerby reported seeing a blue Honda SUV strike the front of a building.
When officers arrived, they found significant damage to the building and the front of the business.
Police said the SUV had jumped the curb, driven onto the sidewalk and then struck the front of a liquor store. The driver admitted to drinking the night prior but denied drinking that morning. Officers reported the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and watery, the driver smelled of intoxicants and was unsteady on her feet.
Police said the driver failed standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for DUI.
Damage to the building was estimated at more than $5,000, police said. The department said no one was injured and no one was walking in the area at the time of the collision.
Police said the same driver was arrested for DUI in 2025 after striking a parked car. The department said it recently received blood results from that incident showing a blood alcohol level of .240. Police said the driver blew a .105 in the crash reported this morning. Both were above the legal limit of .08, police said.
Once the process is completed, police said the suspect will be booked into Skagit County Jail for DUI and first-degree malicious mischief.
The department also noted that many DUI cases involve drugs rather than alcohol, including substances such as marijuana or fentanyl, and encouraged people struggling with addiction to seek help before someone is hurt.
