Newly released drone video shows Snohomish County deputies rescuing a man from his burning home in Monroe earlier this month.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said that on the morning of Aug. 17, deputies responded to a home on Woods Lake Road after a 63-year-old man reported he was armed and may have shot someone inside his house.

The man fired dozens of rounds inside the home, believing armed militia members were present, then set his house on fire and continued firing at threats that were not actually there, according to the SCSO.

As deputies arrived, they heard 20 to 30 gunshots coming from the house.

Fire crews were called to the scene as the situation worsened.

Deputies used a drone to locate the man in the burning home, then officers on the ground helped pull him out through a window to safety.

The man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett for evaluation and involuntary behavioral health treatment, according to SCSO.

No one else was inside the home when the man fired the gunshots.
