The union represents district employees working in secretarial, technical, paraeducator, nursing, health assistant, crossing guard and security roles.
Members of the union representing more than 300 Shoreline School District employees voted Wednesday to approve a new collective bargaining agreement with the district.
The vote followed negotiations that began in April and a strike authorization approved overwhelmingly by union members earlier this month.
The Shoreline Educational Support Professionals Association had sought wage increases to bring members’ pay in line with neighboring school districts, with a particular focus on paraeducator pay. The union did not release details of the approved agreement.
Before the agreement was reached, SESPA members had authorized their bargaining team to call a strike beginning Sept. 14 if the two sides did not reach a deal.
The Shoreline Education Association, which represents teachers and other certificated employees, had voted to support SESPA members if they went on strike.
SESPA thanked community members, particularly parents and students, for their support and said its members look forward to seeing students in school.
The union represents district employees working in secretarial, technical, paraeducator, nursing, health assistant, crossing guard and security roles. It is affiliated with the Washington Education Association and the National Education Association.
