Seattle police are investigating after a woman was assaulted and robbed in West Seattle on Thursday, according to Seattle police (SPD) said.

Officers responded about 6:05 p.m. Thursday to a report that several men were punching a woman and taking her purse in the 4500 block of 42nd Avenue Southwest, according to a police report.

A witness told police she heard a scream and recorded video from her apartment.

Officers reviewed footage that appeared to show a white Honda Accord without license plates pull into a parking lot, where four suspects surrounded a woman on the ground.

The footage appeared to show one suspect take an item from the victim before the group returned to the Honda, police said.

A fourth suspect was seen allegedly stomping on the woman twice before the group drove south on 42nd Avenue Southwest.

Police said a fifth suspect appeared to remain in the driver’s seat.

Officers found the woman at an urgent care clinic a short time later as she was being treated by Seattle Fire Department personnel.

She told police that four or five men approached her as she walked back to her car. One yelled, “Hey, that’s my phone!” before the group attacked her, she said.

The woman said she did not know the suspects and had not seen them before. She said she was allegedly knocked to the ground and kicked twice in the head but did not lose consciousness.

Police observed a laceration on the back of her head and a large hematoma on her forehead.

American Medical Response transported her to Harborview Medical Center, where doctors reported she had a significant injury, according to the report.

The woman told officers the suspects took her blue iPhone. Police described four suspects as Black males believed to be 16 to 22 years old with thin builds.

The fifth suspect did not leave the Honda.

Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects or the vehicle.

Police collected video footage from the witness and identified additional security cameras that may have recorded the incident.

Officers also recovered the victim’s glasses and an unlabeled prescription pill bottle containing suspected benzodiazepines.

The woman said the pills belonged to her, and police entered the bottle into evidence for latent-print testing.
