The Seattle Seahawks announced that the sale of the franchise to the Khosla family has officially closed, making the family the team’s controlling owner.

NFL owners approved the $9.6 billion sale Aug. 26; the family promises deeper ties to the 12s, community, and Pacific Northwest.

Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures, will serve as chair. Neeru Khosla will be controlling owner and president of the Seahawks Charitable Foundation, while Neal Khosla will be vice chair.

“We are honored and excited to begin this next chapter,” the Khosla family said in a statement. “The Seahawks are known for their championship culture, winning football, and a deep connection to the 12s and the Pacific Northwest.”

The family said it looked forward to engaging with the Seattle community and building on the franchise’s traditions and legacy. In the statement, the family also thanked the investors joining its ownership group and those who supported the sale process.

Co-owners joining the Khosla family include Mark Stevens; the Aramburuzabala family; Val Blavatnik; Sheryl Sokoloff; Gonzalo Hevia Baillères; Jesse van der Werf; Samir Kaul; Sunny Gupta; Nader Naini; Penny Pritzker; Carlyle and Dynasty Equity; and Sixth Street.

Andalusian Sports Advisors advised the Khosla family and the new ownership group. Sullivan & Cromwell LLP served as legal counsel.

The Seahawks plan to formally introduce the Khosla family during an 11 a.m. news conference Sept. 9 at Lumen Field.
