Pediatric patients at Seattle Children’s got a special surprise as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month began, with a visit from Seattle Seahawks wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Rashid Shaheed.

Shaheed spent time with patients being treated at the hospital, handing out signed Seahawks swag in the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.

He also joined kids in the Playroom to create puppy-themed artwork and took part in “would you rather” questions with several patients, drawing laughs and helping brighten their day.

The visit also came during Shaheed’s birthday week. Patients and staff surprised him with a handmade birthday card.

Seattle Children’s said it was grateful for the time Shaheed spent at the hospital, helping create special memories for patients and families.
