Police are asking for help as they investigate a sexual assault involving a child in the Maple Leaf neighborhood.
The Seattle Police Department began its investigation after responding to a report of a burglary at around 5 a.m. Sept. 13, according to a Friday blotter post.
Officers learned a man broke into a home and then sexually assaulted a child before leaving the scene, police said.
Investigators assigned the case to the Seattle Police Department’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit. Police canvassed the neighborhood but did not find the suspect, and the FBI helped with evidence collection.
The suspect is described as a white man between 20 and 50 years old, approximately 200 pounds, with thinning short brown hair and a round face with some stubble on his chin.
He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.
Police did not provide the age of the child or the exact location of the home where the attack occurred in the Maple Leaf neighborhood.
