Two people were arrested on firearm- and drug-related charges during a proactive patrol in Seattle's Capitol Hill nightlife district early Friday, police said.
Officers patrolling the 1000 block of East Pike Street to address noise complaints heard loud music coming from a nearby car at about 2 a.m., according to police.
The area has had a history of crime, including recent shootings outside of nightclubs and bars.
While speaking with people inside a car, an officer saw a firearm on the passenger seat. Officers found a second firearm, $1,140 in cash, and individually packaged bags of cocaine, police said.
A 29-year-old man was arrested after investigators determined he was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of prior felony convictions, and he was booked on suspicion of unlawful firearm possession, violation of a court order and a drug-related offense, police said.
A 49-year-old woman also was arrested on firearm-related offenses, according to police.
The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant, and both suspects were booked into the King County Jail.
Seattle police said detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit will conduct the follow-up investigation
