George Kirby (8-10) had a nightmarish first inning Thursday, walking the leadoff batter and giving up six hits.
The Tuesday night game marked the worst loss in franchise history and the most lopsided shutout in the major leagues since 1887.
"I was really shocked, honestly, and kind of sad that the Mariners had a big L," said Nastassia Dzula, a Mariners fan.
