A SeaTac man is accused of holding his girlfriend and her two young daughters in a vehicle for three days before driving off with the children along Interstate

A SeaTac man is accused of holding his girlfriend and her two young daughters in a vehicle for three days before driving off with the children along Interstate 90, according to charging documents filed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Carlos Alberto Gallegos Villagomez is charged with two counts of second-degree kidnapping and one count of unlawful imprisonment — domestic violence.

The alleged crimes occurred in both King and Kittitas counties.

Prosecutors said Gallegos Villagomez held his girlfriend and her daughters, ages 5 and 6, in the vehicle for three days and would not allow his girlfriend to leave. The woman told police Gallegos Villagomez attacked her when she tried to take the vehicle’s keys and had been violent with her on previous occasions.

The situation escalated Aug. 30 after Gallegos claimed the vehicle was out of gas and parked along I-90, according to the case summary.

The woman called a tow truck and got out of the vehicle to speak with the driver. Prosecutors said Gallegos then suddenly started the vehicle and sped away with both girls still in the backseat.

The woman, fearing for her children’s safety, called 911.

According to prosecutors, Gallegos Villagomez continued driving east on Interstate 90 with no apparent indication that he planned to return the children. Charging documents noted that Gallegos and the woman live in SeaTac, meaning he was driving away from their home.

Washington State Patrol troopers eventually located the vehicle and deployed stop sticks to prevent Gallegos Villagomez from continuing farther east.

Troopers recovered both children, who prosecutors said were crying and upset.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office asked that Gallegos Villagomez's bail be set at $200,000.
