After years of helping travelers skip long security lines, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s SEA Spot Saver program is being phased out as checkpoint wait times improve.
The airport announced that SEA Spot Saver will be sunsetted starting Nov. 30, 2026, and will no longer be available after that date. Reservations booked from now through Nov. 29, 2026, will still be honored at TSA Checkpoint 4.
SEA launched Spot Saver in 2021 as a way to help manage longer checkpoint wait times while the airport worked on longer-term solutions.
The airport said it has grown over the years and is now the 11th busiest airport in the country, while also being the most space-constrained major airport.
Airport officials said those longer-term solutions are now in place through the UpgradeSEA program, including completion of the new Checkpoint 1 in June 2025 and a redesigned Checkpoint 6 that opened in late 2025.
With more lanes and additional tools, the airport said lines have been moving quickly, with more than 94% of travelers getting through in 20 minutes or less this year.
In 2025, 93% of travelers cleared security in 20 minutes or less, and over the last two years, 99% have gotten through in 30 minutes or less.
The airport said improved general screening lines have also led to less use of Spot Saver, with many travelers finding it faster to choose an open general screening lane rather than wait for a reservation.
Passengers looking for security screening resources are encouraged to contact SEA Customer Care.
Travelers can also check the airport’s security and checkpoints webpage, monitor live checkpoint wait times online or on digital signage in the terminal, or download the flySEA app for free on iOS and Android.
