A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into a crosswalk median in Redmond earlier this week, Redmond Police say.

Officers responded at about 6:25 p.m. on Aug 27 to a single-vehicle collision near 148th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 87th Street, finding a vehicle that had crashed into the median.

Police arrested the driver for DUI after observing "obvious" signs of impairment, and said the driver’s blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.

No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was injured.

Police urged people to plan ahead before drinking and not to drive if they have been drinking or using any substance that impairs their ability to drive, suggesting using a rideshare, calling a sober friend or family member, or finding another safe way home.
