A judge has ruled that two dogs involved in a June attack on a pregnant woman in Tacoma can be relocated for adoption instead of being euthanized.

A judge ruled that two dogs that attacked a pregnant woman in Tacoma in June can be relocated for adoption, according to the latest update in the case.

Tacoma Animal Control had recommended the dogs be put down after the attack, which sent the woman into early labor and left her with a serious leg infection.

The ruling gives the owner 30 days to remove the dogs from Tacoma and place them in a secure facility, where they can be prepared for adoption in another county.

If the owner does not meet those conditions, the dogs must be humanely euthanized, according to the ruling.

The victim, Renee Wilson, said she was about to install her new baby car seat in the parking lot of her apartment complex on June 25, her due date, when the unthinkable happened.

"I saw two dogs running toward me. I looked down and saw my chihuahua, so I immediately knew what they were going for," she added. " I just started screaming for help, but there was nobody around, and I just remember thinking, like, ‘I’m probably going to die.’"

A neighbor's surveillance video shows an American Pit Bull Terrier and an American Bully running loose. Wilson said the dogs first tried going after her chihuahua, named Katie. That's when she intervened, but was knocked to the ground and bitten multiple times.

"The other dog had my belly inside of its mouth. It started pulling me in the other direction," Wilson explained, adding she also suffered bites to a wrist, an ankle and leg.

One man, armed with a broom, and other neighbors jumped in to help until police arrived, and she went to the hospital.

Doctors induced labor and her baby boy was born healthy.
