A 28-year-old man died after he was shot early Monday in West Seattle’s High Point neighborhood, according to the Seattle Police Department.

A 28-year-old man died after he was shot early Monday in West Seattle’s High Point neighborhood, according to the Seattle Police Department (SPD).

Police said dispatchers received reports at 12:17 a.m. of a gunshot victim being driven to First Avenue South near South Forest Street in the SODO area.

Officers arrived and found the man with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died, the SPD said.

Witnesses told investigators the shooting happened in the 3100 block of Southwest Graham Street in High Point.

According to police, a friend drove the wounded man from there to First Avenue South, where officers found him.

Seattle police homicide detectives are investigating what led up to the shooting.

Police asked anyone with information to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
