Seattle police are investigating an early Wednesday morning stabbing in the Georgetown neighborhood that left a 44-year-old man injured.

Seattle police are investigating an early Wednesday morning stabbing in the Georgetown neighborhood that left a 44-year-old man injured.

Shortly before 2:00 a.m., 911 dispatchers received reports of a stabbing in the 6100 block of 4th Avenue South. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest.

The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police secured the scene and searched the area with help from the Tukwila Police Department's K-9 Unit.

According to investigators, the victim was walking toward a bus stop when an unknown man approached him. The two exchanged words before the suspect stabbed the victim with a pocketknife, according to Seattle police.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

Police said the suspect is described as a white man in his 30s with a thin build. He was last seen wearing an orange jacket and blue jeans.

Seattle Police Department Homicide and Assault Unit detectives are leading the investigation and are working to determine what led up to the stabbing.
