Three teenage hikers were rescued after becoming stranded on a narrow ridge near Crosby Mountain outside Skykomish, the King County Sheriff’s Office said.
The group had scrambled up steep terrain and could not safely make its way back down, according to county officials.
One of the teens was having a panic attack, authorities said. Video shows the rescue as air operatives hoisted the teens into King County Air Support’s Guardian 2 helicopter.
The hikers were about 3,900 feet up in a remote area where difficult terrain would have made a ground rescue an overnight operation followed by a lengthy pack-out, according to the sheriff’s office.
King County Air Support’s Guardian 2 helicopter was called to the scene and safely removed the hikers from the mountain.
The boys reunited with their families at Skykomish Airport.
