Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington has opened a 119,000-square-foot operations center in Georgetown.

The Georgetown Operations Center combines the nonprofit’s e-commerce, storage, transportation, recycling and salvage operations under one roof, along with a 4-acre transportation yard.

Evergreen Goodwill said the facility will help it process donated goods more efficiently and generate additional funding for job training and education programs.

The organization said the facility will allow it to process more than 120 million pounds of donations annually while diverting more material from landfills.

What we are celebrating is more than a warehouse,” Libby Johnson McKee, the organization’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “It’s the operational engine that helps turn donated goods into education, opportunity, and community impact across Northwest Washington.

Evergreen Goodwill said it keeps 99% of donated clothing out of local landfills through textile reuse and recycling.

Revenue from the organization’s retail and operational network supports tuition-free education and job-training programs across Northwest Washington, Evergreen Goodwill said.

The organization said improvements in logistics, waste reduction and operational efficiency will allow it to invest more resources in programs that help people build skills, earn credentials and pursue employment.

“Every improvement we make to how donations move through our system helps create more opportunities for people in our community,” the organization said in a statement.
