Boeing has released details of its final four-year contract offer to more than 16,000 engineers and technical workers represented by the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace.

The offer includes what Boeing describes as 34% in total wage funds over the life of the contract, including 26% in guaranteed increases for all employees.

Under the proposal, workers would receive a 10% guaranteed wage increase effective Oct. 2. Annual wage pools would be 4% in the first year and 6% in each of the following three years, with employees guaranteed an increase of at least 4% each year.

Boeing said the average base salary for employees in the professional unit would increase from $152,000 to $208,000 over the contract. The average base salary for technical workers would rise from $119,000 to $163,000.

The company said those amounts are $11,000 more for professional employees and $8,000 more for technical workers than under its initial offer.

The proposal also includes enhanced health care and retirement benefits, two additional vacation days, a new floating holiday and three bereavement days.

We took the feedback we heard from our employees and SPEEA’s bargaining teams to deliver an offer with more value that includes guaranteed pay increases and a larger wage pool over the life of the contract,” said Ben Nimmergut, Boeing vice president and functional chief engineer for production engineering. “We encourage our team to learn more about our offer and vote.

SPEEA’s bargaining team is recommending that members accept the offer, saying it provides higher guaranteed wage increases and revisions addressing working from home, career development and workers with lower pay relative to their salary ranges.

The union said electronic voting will begin at noon Sept. 24 and end at noon Oct. 1. SPEEA will announce the results. The current contract expires Oct. 6.

The bargaining unit includes 12,696 engineers and scientists in the professional unit and 3,959 employees who provide technical and analytical support.
