A fire at a Shoreline apartment complex grew to two alarms early Friday.

Early reports were that 12 people were displaced by the fire, according to the Red Cross Norwest Region.

The four-unit building is located along 12th Avenue Northeast, which is several blocks from Northcrest Park.

Shoreline Fire Department crews were called to the scene around 4 a.m.

A second alarm was called to summon more resources.

According to the Shoreline Fire Department, the fire started outside and spread across the attic.

All four units were affected.

Everyone was able to evacuate safely, including pets.

Video from the scene showed a ladder against the building and a hole in its roof.

Bothell and Seattle fire departments assisted.

The Red Cross received a request for help finding immediate shelter for four people, including a child.
