Comedian Carrot Top remains hospitalized in Las Vegas but is improving after what news reports have described as a suicide attempt.
His publicist, Jami Schlicher, said Scott Thompson—better known as Carrot Top—is awake, breathing on his own, and surrounded by family and close friends.
“Scott remains hospitalized and under close medical care,” Schlicher said in a statement. “He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve.”
Schlicher said Thompson has shared moments of humor with medical staff and has received messages from fans describing how his comedy helped them through difficult times.
The publicist and Thompson’s family asked that his privacy be respected.
His shows at the Luxor in Las Vegas were canceled over the weekend because of his hospitalization.
Thompson attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, where he first performed stand-up comedy as a freshman. He also maintains homes in the Orlando area.
