Colleen has been working on the digital side of local news in Seattle for more than two decades. She is a Seattle-area native who grew up in SeaTac. Colleen was in high school when the Green River Killer was prowling streets in the area. Seeing the faces of the missing women on a flyer posted inside the office of her parents' business was something she never forgot. Since then, she's always been interested in crime and was in a newsroom watching a live feed of the announcement that a suspect, a man named Gary Ridgway, had been arrested in the murders. That was November of 2001, when she had just started her career after graduating from the University of Washington, where she studied digital media and communications. Since then, she has covered many major news and weather events in Western Washington, including the 2012 May Day riots in downtown Seattle, the explosion in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood that devastated part of the business core in 2016, the disappearance of McCleary girl Lindsey Baum, and the historic flooding in northwest Washington in 2021, to name a few. She is a bit of a thrill seeker who has done indoor skydiving, walked on hot coals, broke boards and bricks with her bare hands, and bungee jumped, but now she mostly enjoys music, gardening, movies, cooking, and the outdoors.
